In Chile, there’s a town named Camina which is 147 km from the city of Iquique, there lies the lake of blood or you can say the Red Lagoon. The colour of the water is completely red and it seems like there might be a slaughter house nearby from where the blood flows to the lake. The lake was known to the locals and but was discovered by the National Service of Tourism in 2009.
History behind the Red Lagoon
Long ago, the area was populated by the Aymara culture during the ancient civilization, the Aymaras preserved the secrets and legends of the land, which was recently revealed.
Just like the mysterious curses that have been associated with the Egyptian tombs, this red pool is also said to be possessed by a curse which will affect those who approach its waters. The disappearance of thousands of Aymaras is also attributed to this lake because they drank from its waters.
The red lagoon is surrounded by two other pools which consist yellow and green water, and it is said that they bubble when surrounded by unpleasant people. It is a common belief that these accumulations of colored water are owned by the devil.
But experts have their own view, According to them, the color is due to different species of algae living in its depths.
Though the locals still believe that supernatural force lies at its bottom and why they believe is because of the sudden disappearance of the Amyra people, even their traces of those were never found.
Chile’s best-kept secret is going to change soon as the locals plan for making it a tourist spot from which they will also charge fees per visit.
The only thing which bothers me is, who will dare to take a dive?
