Right from the “Mannequin Challenge” to the “Beat pe Booty challenge” like every year this year too came with such innovative, comedy and weird trends which ruled 2016. Some were inspired by latest released movies whereas few had their own origins from inspired from the 90’s and people loved sharing videos of them accepting those challenges. Some were fails while few nailed it.
Let’s have a look at some of the trends.
1. Mannequin Challenge
An internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a moving camera captures them. The song usually used was “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd. It is believed that its origins were from Florida, where a group of students on October 12, 2016. People use to share those videos on social media platforms like twitter, facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #MannequinChallenge. People shared those videos from gyms, bars, playgrounds etc.
2. ” Beat pe booty ” challenge
This challenge is been inspired by the curvy dance moves of the movie “The Flying Jatt” which has Tiger Shroff, the ultra flexible hero with the best dance steps to his pocket and Jacquelin Fernandes on the other side. The song “Beat pe booty” from this movie was quite famous and the dance steps made some noise among people who started accepting the challenge to dance moving their curvy booties and sharing it on social media. Celebrities like Disha Patani, Divyanka Tripathi, Sunny Leone and the Greek God Hrithik Roshan showed keen interest and accepted this challenge.
3. The Ironman Marathon Challenge
Well, this is technically not a new entry or a new challenge or trend. But it came to trend this year when Model-Actor Milind Soman accepted this challenge which is also known as the Ironman Trialthon it is a one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. It is one of the very difficult one-day sport events of the world and Milind nailed it.
4. Bottle flip Challenge
Water bottle flipping is an activity and a challenge that involves throwing a plastic water bottle, typically full or partially full of liquid, into the air so that it rotates, in an attempt to land it upright on its bottom. This challenge came to trend this year and people shared the videos of them, where they successfully accept it and also fail sometimes.
5. Backpack Challenge
The weirdest of them all. I SAY DON’T TRY THIS CHALLENGE. The challenge was created by Twitter user abucciwood and is very similar to the game dodgeball. In order to do the challenge, students line up in rows of two and toss their heavy backpacks at one unlucky challenger, who attempts to get through the attacks without falling over. 6. Andy’s Coming Challenge
The challenge works like this someone calls “Andy’s coming!” to a large group, and all participants previously in motion immediately drop to the floor. It took it’s inspiration from the animated film Toy Story.
7. Trump’s coming Challenge
This challenge just came after the Andy’s coming challenge, only difference is the dialogue and the action. ‘Trump is Coming’ is the most terrifying challenge yet.
8. The Running Man Challenge
The Running Man Challenge was made popular by two University of Maryland basketball players, Jaylen Brantley and Jared Nickens, the challenge is simple: do a variation of the running man to an old ’90s hit song called “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJ’s.
9. Pokemon Go
This was not a trend or a challenge sort of thing, but it had people down their heads in the mobile screens and search for what? Pokemon’s, gotta collect them all. Yes, I am talking about the Pokemon Go game which made the world busy walking and collecting them.
10. The Beard Trend
This trend changes year to year with different styles in town this time. Right from Leonardo Di Caprio to Jake Gyllenhal to Kit Harrington everyone was seen sporting the perfect beard style and looking macho. It was also the first time that the Indian Cricket Team had all the players (except a couple of them) sporting a beard. The trend was well followed by many men around the world.
